Manage the delivery of patient-focussed, high quality and cost-effective clinical pharmacy services to all clinical areas as the lead clinical pharmacist, with highly specialist knowledge and skills.

Lead clinical services education and training programmes for the multi-disciplinary team.

Be responsible for ensuring compliance with the legislative, governance, risk management, financial and operational aspects of medicines optimisation services providing expert advice to the relevant divisional management teams to ensure that all statutory and service obligations are met.

Ensure provision of high quality, bespoke medicines and pharmacy metrics data to the relevant divisions to support the cost-effective, consistent and safe use of medicines to support accurate planning, forecasting and monitoring of medicines expenditure, effectiveness and safety.

Engage clinical colleagues in regular audit, reporting and review of medicines prescribing and administration.

Deliver assigned workstreams within the hospital pharmacy transformation agenda through the Hospital Pharmacy Transformation Programme (HPTP) and the Pharmacy Strategy.

Support the Deputy Chief Pharmacist to engage with the Divisional Directors and Finance leads to oversee the managed introduction of new medicines through an annual business planning process.

Provide expert clinical and service information to the pharmacy management team to support departmental operational service development and strategic planning.

Deputising for the Deputy Chief Pharmacist and members of the pharmacy senior management team at departmental, Divisional and Trust meetings as required.

Job responsibilities

Managing the clinical pharmacy team to deliver key pharmacy service and national benchmark performance standards across the Trust.

Making a significant contribution to the delivery of corporate, divisional and departmental operational and strategic priorities and to the modernisation of pharmacy services across the Trust.

Actively representing service delivery at departmental Senior Pharmacy Meetings and deputising for the Deputy Chief Pharmacist and members of the pharmacy senior management team at Departmental, Divisional and Trust meetings as required.

Contribute to the pharmacy business planning and implementation of the medicine optimisation strategy.

STAFF CAR PARKING

Staff Car Parking on the West Suffolk Hospital Site is eligible for individuals working outside of the core hours, 07:00 18:30.

For individuals working within the core hours, the Trust offers parking off site at the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, which is serviced by a regular shuttle bus to and from the Hospital. Details of the bus timetable can be found in the on-line starter pack on the West Suffolk Hospital website.

This parking restriction does not apply if an individual is required to work on a weekend or if they are required to complete on call duties within their role.

Educated to Degree or Masters level in Pharmacy Registered Pharmacist (GPhC) Postgraduate qualification relevant to hospital pharmacy practice Leadership / Management qualification relevant to the NHS or equivalent management qualification or experience

Desirable

Project management qualification (PRINCE 2 or equivalent) Advanced Clinical Skills Course Registered Pharmacy non-medical prescriber
