Key ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Research Associate specializing in cell based assays to join our team. You will be responsible for designing, executing, and analysing in vitro experiments in line with company and department objectives. You will work as part of a multi-functional team to achieve project goals. You will communicate and present your results. This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovation-focussed company dedicated to delivering innovative next-generation antibody therapeutics.   Your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Design and perform in vitro assays (e.g. report assays, killing assay, potency assay, ELISA) 
  • Follow protocols and author new ones, undertake analysis, interpretation and reporting of your results 
  • Ensure experiments and data management activities result in robust quality of data 
  • Contribute to the maintenance of reagents and general lab facilities 
  • Communicate ideas, experimental plans, methods and results to manager, team and company, where appropriate 
  • Operate all items of equipment or IT needed for experimentation, data analysis, storage, data entry and reporting 

Skills, Knowledge & ExpertiseWe’re looking for someone who is adaptable, keen to learn and confident in delivering work with limited supervision. You’ll be organised with strong attention to detail with an ability to keep clear records. You will be able to maintain controls and analysis during multiple experiments. Strong communication skills are important, along with the proven ability to work well within teams, both in person and in a virtual environment. This is a busy role with deadlines to meet and so you’ll be able to prioritise your workload and adapt quickly to change when needed. 
Essential: 
  • BSc degree or equivalent in a biological subject, with relevant focus on biochemistry, cell biology or pharmacology with substantial relevant lab/industry experience 
  • Proficient in the following: cell culture, in vitro immune cell assays, analysis and purification of primary human immune cells 
  • Proficient in aseptic technique and best practice in pipetting 
  • Proven experience in experimental design, interpretation of data, trouble shooting 
  • Working experience in structured assay design, record keeping and understanding of assay robustness and levels of data quality 
Desirable: 
  • Understanding of potency assay principles 
  • Experience in immunological phenotyping by flow cytometry 
  • Knowledge in immunology and/or cancer biology 
  • Knowledge in the development of antibody-based therapeutics and CMC 
  • Previous relevant industry experience in a regulated environment (GLP, GMP)
