Main duties of the job

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

PROFESSIONAL

Assist in the management of complaints from relatives, patients and staff and inform the line manager of any untoward incidents. Participate in the clinical incident reporting process, assessing, and supporting the investigation communicating outcomes as per local quality and safety policy.

Ensure professional involvement in giving assurance quality standards are being met.

Participate and assist in setting standards of patient care which are research based.

Participate in any research and learning projects ongoing for endometriosis or other relevant topics.

Ensure compliance with all statutory training is maintained and Conduct appraisals and identify training needs of junior staff.

COMMUNICATION :

1. Act as a positive role model, demonstrating high standards of advanced clinical practice Provide support and advice to all members of the Multidisciplinary team when required.

2. Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.

3. Communicate complex and sensitive information to the patient and referring clinician related to diagnosis.

4. Support ALL patients and families, particularly those who need support with any language barriers or complex needs ensuring they receive information accurately with empathy, assurances, and reassurance.

5. When required, attend, and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings as a representative of the endometriosis service.

6. Assist in developing clinical policies and protocols relevant to the service, ensuring that practice is evidence based. Propose changes to procedures and working practices within the service.

7. Create and positively promote an environment which is conducive to education and learning.

8. Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff if required.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT:

1. The post holder will attend a BSCCP / BSGE recognised national meeting at least once every 2 years

2. Assist in the clinical training of both undergraduate and postgraduate students as required.

3. The post holder has responsibility to undertake training, study with relevant assessment, as and when required to ensure that a high level of current research-based knowledge and expertise maintained. This will include all mandatory training.

4. A continuous professional development (CPD) portfolio of all training/ study will be required to support the annual appraisal process.

5. To participate in teaching, lecturing or presentation of case studies and attending multi-disciplinary team meetings.

6. To participate in research and undertake local and national audits in line with speciality, presenting findings as and when required within ELHT.

7. To attend local gynaecology meetings - speciality specific as and when required.
