Pay Rate: £157.66

Hours: 8.30am – 3.30pm

 

Are you a passionate and experienced English teacher looking for a new challenge? Are you confident in your ability to inspire and motivate students in the subject of English literature and language? Do you have a strong understanding of the national curriculum and experience teaching GCSE and A-level English?

Teaching Personnel  are currently seeking a qualified and enthusiastic English teacher to join a well-established secondary school in Abergavenny. As an English teacher, you will be responsible for teaching a range of English classes to students from Years 7-11, with the possibility of teaching A-level English Literature to students in Years 12-13.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Assess and monitor student progress, setting targets and providing feedback to students to help them improve
  • Adapt teaching methods to cater to the needs of individual students, including those with special educational needs and those who are gifted and talented
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to explore literary texts, develop their writing skills, and think critically about language
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, support staff, and external agencies to provide a comprehensive English education
  • MARK AND RECORD STUDENT WORK, PROVIDING CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK TO HELP STUDENTS IMPROVE
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of English curriculum and resources

 

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • A strong subject knowledge of English literature and language, with experience teaching GCSE and A-level English.
  • Experience teaching secondary English to students aged 11-18.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to the development of the English department.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service
  • EWC registered.
