Financial Crime Team Leader

Are you passionate about combating financial crime and ensuring regulatory compliance? We are seeking a dedicated Financial Crime Team Leader to join our dynamic team, working in the Vehicle Finance space. In this role, you will assist the Financial Crime Manager and the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) by being the first point of contact for queries related to Money Laundering, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Fraud, and Law Enforcement Agencies. You will also provide training and coaching to our financial crime team members.
Due to the nature of the business there will be a requirement to work one weekend per month (based on a rota system), as well as bank holidays.
What you will be doing
Risk Management and Compliance:
Support the Financial Crime Manager, MLRO, and FC Team in ensuring compliance with Anti Money Laundering (AML) requirements. Oversee referrals from the Mann Island proposals made by the MIF Credit team and handle legal requests from Law Enforcement Agencies and Government Departments. Investigate Hunter alerts and make informed recommendations. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of financial crime regulations. Act as the escalation point for all issues related to Money Laundering and Fraud for MI Vehicle Finance applications. Analyse suspicious activity alerts and referrals to identify potential money laundering or fraudulent activities. Review CIFAS complaints and support the ongoing review of high-risk customers, including PEP alerts and trigger events. Collaborate with Compliance Advisory, Compliance Monitoring, and Legal colleagues to ensure regulatory standards are met. Assist in delivering financial crime-related training and keep abreast of regulatory changes.Customer and Relationship Management:
Liaise with the NCA and other law enforcement agencies to ensure compliance. Build effective working relationships with key internal departments and facilitate best practices within the group.Process Management:
Manage SARs and law enforcement enquiries, reporting to the NCA where appropriate. Conduct QA checks on the financial crime team's work. Review and maintain a register of PEPs and manage DPA responsibilities related to Subject Access Requests. Support team training through coaching and mentoring, and contribute to IT development initiatives.What we are looking for:
