Job summary

Stock Surgery is looking to welcome a qualified dispenser into our busy dispensing practice for 15 to 20 hours per week. The successful candidate will play a full and active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GP's and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme; Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor; Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient; Process Hospital Letters; Process Dossett Boxes; Manage ordering stock and stock control; Preparation of monthly returns to the Prescription Pricing Bureau; Answer and deal withdispensary phone enquiries; Monitor patients exemption status; Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication; Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Diploma Level 2/3 Dispensary or equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification;

Experience

Essential

Previous dispensary and pharmacy experience; Excellent clinical and medication knowledge; Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in GP practice setting; The commitment to continue to learn new clinical skills and develop your career; The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making; The ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach; Excellent patient facing inter-personal communication skills.
