Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual with experience of cancer services and pathways to join the Cancer Centre Team and support the Trust Cancer Leadership team to manage the Trust wide Cancer Quality Surveillance Programme.
The Cancer Centre is an evolving team supporting clinical specialties across Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, to deliver quality cancer services in a timely manner. An opportunity has arisen to join the Cancer Centre team to work with Multi-Disciplinary teams to facilitate the NUH Quality Surveillance Programme.
This post is essential to the smooth running of NUH's Quality Surveillance Cancer programme, delivering an ambitious internal validation programme and external review visits and developing reports relating to those reviews to be shared at Divisional level.
The post holder will be an integral part of the Cancer Centre team and will at times need to work flexibly with Cancer specific clinical teams across the Trust to aid the Quality Surveillance programme. Excellent organisational, leadership and communication skills are essential to the role to enable the smooth running of all aspects of the Quality Surveillance programme for Cancer Services and to line manage the Quality Surveillance Administrative Support role.

All specialised services at NUH are required to participate in the Quality Surveillance Programme in line with a previously nationally guided programme of review. The Cancer Centre at Nottingham University Hospital supports Multi-Disciplinary Teams across the Trust by coordinating the Cancer specific Quality Surveillance Programme.
The post holder will work in collaboration with NUH Cancer Lead Clinician, Lead Cancer Nurse, Cancer Centre team and specialty Multi-disciplinary Teams to facilitate the NUH Cancer Quality Surveillance programme by ensuring each service actively participates in the programme and develops reports to demonstrate compliance.

Job responsibilities
Facilitate the co-ordination of the preparation and process for external Quality Surveillance visits with clinical oversight from Lead Cancer Clinician and Lead/Deputy Lead Cancer Nurse Ensure the service being reviewed undergoes an Internal Validation Engage the teams being reviewed in the QS process Coordinate the compilation of key documentation Document areas of non-compliance ensuring plans for resolution are escalated to Lead Cancer Clinician and Lead/Deputy Lead Cancer Nurse Coordinate the compilation of the action plans to address any immediate risks, serious concerns or concerns identified at external reviews by NHS England and ensure these action plans are regularly reviewed and updated throughout the QS cycle Coordinate the process for Self-Declaration cycle meeting with each Clinical Lead to ensure Self-Declarations are completed, with oversight from Lead Clinician and Lead Cancer Nurse. Coordinate the Internal Validation process for all cancer services: Coordinating of the key documentation (Operational Policy, Annual Report and Work Programme) Ensuring all relevant evidence is present Advising on content required within the documentation and clarifying compliance against the indicators where there may be uncertainty Produce an Internal Validation report summarising the key achievements, challenges and any areas of concern or risk identified under supervision of Lead Cancer Clinician/Lead Cancer Nurse Organise and facilitate monthly Quality Surveillance team meetings Under the supervision of the Lead Cancer Clinician/Lead Cancer Nurse, ensure Standard Operating Policies relating to Quality Surveillance are regularly reviewed and updated. Provide ad hoc reports for Lead Cancer Clinician/Lead Cancer Nurse where necessary. Ensure regular liaison with the tertiary referring trusts QS teams recognising that NUH has MDTS that are either joint with other trusts or are the host for some MDTS.Data collection and Audit
Support the clinical teams in sign posting to appropriate resource to ensure that all data required for documentation to demonstrate compliance is collected and recorded. Audit and produce reports at least annually demonstrating key areas of compliance and non-compliance to assist in the provision of ongoing services. Assist in the continuous review and improvement of how the NUH Quality Surveillance Programme is implemented within the Trust.Communication
Produce and disseminate reports such as Standard Operating Procedures and Policies as required for a range of various audiences on Quality Surveillance as required by Lead Cancer Clinician/Lead Cancer Nurse Assist with producing quarterly reports relating to Quality Surveillance for presentation at Quality Assurance Committee (QUAC) Encourage and empower staff to use the best method of communication with all personnel within the Trust Ensure that Internal Validation reports and key documents are appropriately shared with Divisional Leadership Teams. Maintain a supportive and collaborative approach to working with Clinical teams at all times.Education
Meet with new members of Multi-Disciplinary Teams within the Trust and ensure that they are aware of the expectations of the National Quality Surveillance programme, and explain the role of the local Quality Surveillance team. Provide updates as and when requested by the Lead Cancer Clinician or Lead Cancer Nurse to various forums to support collaborative working. Ensure that new members of the Cancer Centre Team understand the role of the Quality Surveillance Programme.Management and Leadership
