Position: SEN Learning Mentor
Location: Redbridge
Salary: £85 - £95 per day
GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Mentor for one of their client schools in Redbridge. This role offers a unique opportunity to support and guide students with special educational needs (SEN), helping them achieve their full potential.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with SEN, including those with learning difficulties, behavioural challenges, and emotional needs.
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans (ILPs) in collaboration with teachers and SEN coordinators.
- Facilitate one-on-one and group mentoring sessions to enhance students' academic, social, and emotional development.
- Monitor and record students' progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging student engagement and participation.
- Support students in developing coping strategies and resilience to overcome barriers to learning.
- Liaise with external agencies and professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Uphold high standards of safeguarding and child protection, ensuring the welfare and safety of all students at all times.
You should have the following set of skills and knowledge for this role:
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their impact on learning and development.
- Familiarity with support strategies and interventions for students with SEN.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and staff.
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
- Experience: Previous experience working in a similar role or in an educational setting with individuals with SEN is highly desirable.
