Product Design Engineer

Based in Dumfries, Southwest Scotland, Gates () Ltd is a major international company specialising in the production of power transmission belts for the automotive and industrial markets. Our continuing success has resulted in this exciting opportunity based in our Dumfries Plant.

WHAT TO EXPECT

As an innovation leader, we are looking for an ambitious, forward thinking, open-minded and well-rounded individual to join our Global team. Working full-time from our Dumfries office , you will be a Product Design Engineer  within our Product Development group.

Reporting to Director of Global Engineering the core functions of the position include, Providing technical support for allocated product engineering & customer specific projects from definition, participation in project team through product development process, validation and commercialisation process; 

Key responsibilities: 

Operates 3D modelling CAD software and technical database. Provides belt, profile and mould drawings to support automotive, industrial and mobility requirements.  Analysis of internal and customer belt returns including Keyence microscope inspection and the organisation of dimensional/physical testing 

ABOUT YOU

Required Experience:

Degree in automotive or mechanical engineering.  Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling. 3 years minimum experience in a related field such as Product development in mechanical or automotive engineering.

Required Skills:

Good project, time management and organisational skills are essential. Strong technical and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.  Experience with Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) DFSS skills including Design of Experiments (DOE), DFMEA, SPC, Weibull and other statistical tools.
