About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sense within the Arts and Wellbeing team as we expand our delivery of programmes in Birmingham. This role will be working 32 hours per week (4 days) on a fixed term contract due to end in July 2025. 

Sense Arts operates at the interface between arts and social care. It is a quality led, inclusive arts programme for people with complex disabilities, disabled & non-disabled people and artists. 

We believe that the arts should be at the very heart of great care and that people thrive when they have the space for expression, individuality, connection and understanding.

The Arts and Wellbeing Coordinator will support the delivery of a new national Art and Wellbeing (AW) programme and help shape the content of the programme through consulting with and coproducing ideas with people we support. They will monitor & coordinate national specialist projects and maintain the best of services in everything we do. The work is highly varied, and ideally, we are seeking a coordinator who have experience working in community practice, including but not limited to, people with complex disabilities. We’re seeking someone creative, ambitious and determined. We want our workforce to be representative of all sections of society and welcome applications from everyone. As users of the disability confident scheme, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum requirement.

Responsibilities include:

Coordinate and monitor the day-to-day work of the artists to ensure they work to Sense Arts priorities.  Lead on identifying and building relationships with relevant community groups and individuals to have sustained attendance with the programme Coordinate arrangements for a fully accessible arts and wellbeing programme Support the implementation of a diverse volunteer scheme throughout our programme. Coordinate the delivery of internal and external public facing events To monitor budgets and keep activity within expenditure/funding requirements, as well as purchasing and managing stock as and when required To be the main point of contact regarding Arts & Wellbeing project matters and ensure all enquiries are dealt with in a professional manner  Support internal and external arts training development

Key skills and experience:

Excellent organisational skills and eye for detail Demonstrable project working experience including planning, delivery and evaluation. The ability to work on your own initiative Experience in keeping accurate and up to date records of all service related activity and to ensure effective day to day administration of a project or service.  Demonstrable commitment to equal opportunities and diversity. Good IT literacy including using Excel, emails and Adobe. Experience of providing a customer focused service.  Willingness to complete training required by the role.

Experience of managing programmes or services for children, young people, or adults and/or experience of working with people with complex needs is desirable for this role.
