Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available at London North West Healthcare NHS Trust for an enthusiastic and qualified person to take on the role as a Departmental Secretary within a busy Radiology Department.

Please note that this is a fixed term contract or 12 months to work hours per week.

The post holder will be expected to provide an efficient, comprehensive secretarial and administrative support service to the Radiology Service across all three sites.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to provide an efficient, comprehensive secretarial and administrative support service to the Radiology Service across all three sites. Key responsibilities for the post holder include:

Provide secretarial services to the Department of Radiology and generate Medical Reports. Liaise with other Departments across the Trust. Answer telephone enquiries and takes appropriate action. Maintain records. (departmental lists / audits / filing / patient letters/ attendance Registers) Organise training and education on behalf of the Department or Trust Facilitate the communication/instructions between the staff within Radiology Department and outside. Take minutes at meetings, including HR meetings as and when required. Involvement in Training Programme Director work.

Person Specification

Education

Essential

RSA/NVQ level 4 in administration or relevant subject area or equivalent relevant experience Knowledge of medical terminology to higher standard. (AMSPAR or equivalent).

Knowledge and experience

Essential

Previous extensive secretarial experience in a clinical or medical environment. Advanced Keyboard skills. (Equivalent to RSA 3 in typing). Ability to work effectively under pressure in order to prioritise and work to deadlines over a wide range of tasks.

High standard of written and verbal communication skills Able to organise and prioritise workload.
