Job Description

We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic Autism Support Learning Assistants to join our team. The successful candidates will have a positive attitude and a commitment to supporting students with autism to achieve their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with autism in various educational settings.

- Assist in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.

- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.

- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure consistent support.

- Utilize positive behaviour support strategies to manage and improve student behaviour.

- Monitor and record student progress and provide regular feedback.

- Encourage and facilitate social interactions and communication skills.

- Assist with academic tasks and modify learning materials to meet student needs.

- Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications and Skills

- Previous experience working with children with autism in an educational setting.

- Relevant qualifications in Special Education, Teaching Assistant, Psychology, or a related field.

- Positive attitude and a passion for helping students with autism reach their full potential.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Patience, empathy, and understanding of the needs of children with autism.

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

- Knowledge of autism-specific strategies and interventions.

- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
