The shift pattern is Monday-Friday (30 hours).

North Glasgow Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services wish to employ a qualified 0.8 WTE Clinical Nurse Specialist in Neurodevelopmental Disorders (CNS ND) (Band 7) / Trainee CNS ND (Band 7 Annex 21) as part of the investment and expansion of, their multi-disciplinary team. Trainees will undertake a Post Graduate qualification in Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) over a 6 month period as well as completion of modules in advanced assessment relevant to this specialist area such as The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS). Trainees will demonstrate they have met all the required competencies for the role through ‘final sign off’ before moving on to the fully qualified band 7 pay.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist role will be an integral member of the CAMHS dynamic multi-disciplinary team and provide leadership and expertise in delivering the CAMHS service as outlined in the Neurodevelopmental Specification for Children and Young people, liaising closely with the clinicians within the Specialist Children's Services Neurodevelopmental pathway.

A Clinical Nurse Specialist is a degree level registered nurse who has acquired additional specialist knowledge and experience in neurodevelopment assessment and intervention, within agreed boundaries and protocols in line with clinical governance. Entwined around this clinical core are ties of consultancy, teaching, management and research and its application.

The post holder will undertake and provide specialist assessment of patient needs, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, which are evidence based within this defined patient group within North CAMHS, ensuring involvement with the patient, family, carers and significant others. The clinical nurse specialist will be responsible for supporting the wider team in delivering care for children and young people who present with a complex presentation of moderate to severe mental health disorders and co morbid neurodiversity.

Non-medical prescribing qualification or in the process of working toward this is desirable however candidates will be supported to undertake this training at the earliest opportunity as it is an essential part of the role. Good communication and organisational skills are also essential.

The team provide community-based tier 3 NHS specialist mental health assessment and intervention based on the principles of equality, dignity and respect and which takes into account spiritual and cultural diversity. It is essential you are a first level Registered Mental Health Nurse or Registered Learning Disability Nurse with current NMC registration and substantial relevant post registration experience. It is desirable that some of which be within CAMHS or Adult Mental Health with being able to evidence good transferrable skills. Within CAMHS we have robust CAMHS training and development programme and encourage all staff to participate in ongoing learning. This includes a range of training such as essential CAMHS for those who are new to CAMHS.
