Department

Our Power Trading function is responsible for all EDF Trading’s commercial activities in Europe. The team covers fundamental analysis, building and executing trading strategies across the geographical markets in Europe.

Position purpose

Reporting to the Senior Power Trader, this role will support the Italian Power business.

Being part of the Italian desk team will give you an opportunity to have a hand-on experience on energy markets with a focus on Italy. You will have time to learn but also be challenged from day 1 by working directly next to the traders in a fast-paced environment. This is a great opportunity to grow and start a career in power trading.

Responsibilities

Help develop profitable trading strategies and assist with their implementation and management Work with the power traders to identify growth opportunities for the business Collaborate with market analysts and traders to provide support Use a professional approach at all times and set high standards

Learning

Understand basics of energy markets Understand proprietary trading models and all other fundamental analysis carried out by the desk and actively participate in the development of the analyses and contribute to the ongoing effectiveness of such work.

Trading

Get involved in the implementation and follow-up of strategies Help traders to develop new areas of business using strong analytical skills Understand the trading strategies implemented by the senior trader and help manage the strategies. Be aware and alert to any changes in the market conditions as they affect the positions and convey such information to the senior trader

Support

Spreadsheet maintenance Trade support Additional ad-hoc projects

Compliance

This role is subject to the Front Office Supervision Procedures and you are required to adhere to them at all times and attest that you have read and understood them on an annual basis.

Experience required

Graduate level in an analytically-based discipline i.e. finance, maths, economics, science or equivalent experience Prior experience in trading or other front office role Experience and understanding of working within commodities Knowledge of Italian Power and Gas markets not required but is a plus Market analysis/Trading/Power scheduler experience not required but is a plus Italian language knowledge not required but is a plus

Technical requirements

Strong IT skills (advanced Excel and Python) Working knowledge of Bloomberg / Reuters useful

Hours of work:

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
