We are Building Atlas. Our vision is a fullysustainable commercial real estate sector. Our mission is to makethis a reality through rapidly scaling building retrofits: the mostsustainable building is the one that already exists. With azerotouch approach requiring nothing but the addresses of buildingswe help owners of commercial real estate portfolios: (1) find thebest path to retrofitting their buildings; (2) avoid stranding riskand increase the value of their assets; (3) and get access topreferential financing and delivery partners to get the workdone.

Our goal is to get as many buildings aspossible retrofitted so we recommend retrofit measures that bringthe highest return on investment. Choosing the right building tofocus on requires understanding its physics (building envelope andthe energy systems) its current lease terms and use its currentvalue and future green premium and the value of energy flexibilityin a future grid. We gather all this data and build machinelearning models to find the optimum retrofits across a portfolio ofbuildings.

To make this possible were building adiverse team of people passionate about solving climate change inthe built environment. Were scattered around Europe and come from avariety of backgrounds and we need your help

Weare looking for an experienced developer to be both handson and tolead our development team. You should have experience in Ruby onRails and a broad fullstack understanding. You should come to uswith opinions on how we can build an efficient scalablearchitecture for the as we grow. Were deploying in Google CloudPlatform and so experience there is a strong plus. You will haveexperience managing other softwareengineers.

Tasks
  • Leadour small but growing team of softwareengineers.
  • Work closely with the founders andproduct managers to understand and fulfil businessrequirements.
  • Design and maintain anarchitecture roadmap for Building Atlas.
  • Designbuild and maintain efficient reusable and reliable Ruby on Railscode.
  • Help maintain code quality organisationand automation.
  • Implement automated testingplatforms and deployment processes.
  • Participatein code reviews and collaborate with other developers to ensurebestpractices.
Requirements

Minimumqualifications:

  • Bachelorsdegree in Computer Science Engineering or a relatedfield.
  • 5 years of experience in fullstackdevelopment with a focus on Ruby onRails.
  • Experience managing other softwareengineers
  • Proficient in frontend technologiessuch as JavaScript HTML5 and CSS3.
  • Demonstratedexperience with data ingestion from various sources including APIsand data downloads.
  • Familiarity with databasetechnologies (e.g. PostgreSQLMySQL).
  • Experience with cloudbased deploymentand management preferably with Google Cloud Platform(GCP).
  • Strong communication skills with fluencyin English.

Preferredqualifications:

  • Experiencewith geographic or urban datasets: addresses buildingcharacteristics energy or GIS data.
  • Experiencewith enterprise SaaS development.
  • Familiaritywith Python or a willingness to learn is aplus.
  • Experience working in a fastgrowingstartup environment.
