About the Role:

We are currently recruiting for a Transport Assistant to join the Primary Transport Team at our Hereford sites. Who are we, and what do we do?

You may not have heard of us, but there’s a good chance you’ve enjoyed our products. Avara Foods is one of the UK’s leading food businesses, supplying chicken and turkey to the country’s major supermarkets and well-known restaurants.

We own and manage our entire supply chain, from farms to factory and all the way to the customer door – meaning we have careers that cover a whole range of functions. We have major processing sites across England and Wales, and an agricultural network of over 350 farms, spanning from North Yorkshire to the South Coast and Wales.

A little about our Hereford site: The Hereford plant is our largest site and processes chicken products across two factory facilities, Grandstand Road and Yazor Road. Grandstand handles processing, whole bird production and portioning, with Yazor responsible for portioning and added value. Across the whole site approximately 1,500 people are employed and it processes 1.9m birds per week. About the role As a member of the Primary Transport team at our Hereford site, you will be responsible for allocating all driver’s daily work. Collating hours on Time and Attendance system. Filing all paperwork generated by Primary Transport. This role is office based. Working Hours: Monday - Friday 08:00 - 17:00 Benefit :   H4 / £13.46 per hour Your key responsibilities will include. To ensure the drivers are placed into the daily schedule. Place drivers onto the next day’s draft schedule. To raise any schedule issues with the Shift Manager. To check drivers’ hours are correct on the Time and Attendance system. To ensure any compliance paperwork generated by the Transport department is filed in the correct folders.

What do I need to be successful ? 

Essential: Intermediate skills/knowledge in IT. Excel experience. An intermediate level of communication and numeracy skills. Self-driven and able to motivate others.

Desirable

Previous experience in drivers’ hours law. Experience in operating a schedule. Experience in handling tight deadlines and demands. Manual handling training.

Due to bird welfare it is important that you do not possess any avian pets or poultry.
