The Aircraft Operations Duty Manager is an operational role making key decisions for the operations and day-to-day basis. You will lead the duty shift in the Aircraft Operations Unit, comprising of the stand allocation team, NATS and the Met Office. The AODM works to manage the demand profile against available airport capacity to maximise use of runway slots and minimise disruptions.
This is a shift-based role.
Foster collaborative relationships with NATS and other key players in the air traffic management (ATM) ecosystem to optimise network performance and enhance Heathrow’s operational outcomes. Partner with the Met Office within the Airport Operations Control Centre (APOC) to identify potential weather challenges and contribute to the refinement of meteorological data for improved operational support. Work in tandem with Senior Operations Controllers to strategise stand allocations, maximising facility utilisation and adapting to dynamic operational needs, thereby boosting Heathrow’s parking revenue. Oversee airline performance both tactically and strategically, engaging in stakeholder groups to identify trends and implement effective improvements. Cultivate strong partnerships with ground handlers and de-icing service providers, utilising insights from the Ramp Safety & Assurance Team to address operational challenges and enhance aircraft turnaround processes. Possession of a valid UK driving licence. Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities, with a proven track record of building relationships and communicating effectively. Robust stakeholder management skills, with an emphasis on collaborative problem-solving. Experience in a control room setting within an operational environment. A thorough understanding of modern Air Traffic Management practices. Familiarity with airport or airside operations is advantageous.-
