Main duties of the job

The GP will undertake a variety of duties governed by the GMS contract and objectives of Enhanced services. including:

In person consultations Telephone consultations Visiting patients at home and in nursing homes Checking and signing repeat prescriptions Dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence as required Clinical administration

We are 2 site, dispensing practice in Kendal with around 17,500 patients keen to attract caring, motivated, and passionate colleagues. We offer a wide range of enhanced services including minor surgery, coil/implant fitting, plus Dermatology and ENT GPwER clinics.

We are a GP registrar and medical student training practice with an active frailty and care home support team. We are an accredited Veteran friendly practice, a Park Run practice andare proactive in women's health. We aim to develop an enhanced approach to men's health.

We are part of an excellent Primary Care Network and supported with clinical services from a wide range of disciplines. We offer

Job description

Job responsibilities

Makeprofessional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whetherself-referred or referred from other health care workers within theorganisation

Screenpatients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness

Coverall the clinical management of the patients in surgery as appropriate includinginitiating investigations, reviewing results, making referrals to secondarycare or to other providers as appropriate

Developcare and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with currentPractice disease management protocols as well wider guidance such as that fromNICE

Ensureappropriate follow up of patients

Recordclear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes to agreed standards

Participatein clinical audits, and learning event analyses and practice meetings

Compileand issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions avoidinghand-written prescriptions.

Prescribegenerically whenever appropriately and in accordance with the Practiceprescribing formulary, NICE guidance and Good Prescribing Practice (as definedby British National Formulary guidance)

Workwith and provide support for other members of the primary health care team

Play a lead role inthe practice achieving agreed and other key performance indicator targets

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

The applicant must be a qualified GP with full GMC registration licence to practice, on a performers list and have a UK drivers licence

Experience of working in a GP practice using EMIS
