E&I Technician

My client based in Darlington is looking for an E+I Technician to join their team on a long term, contract basis.
Suitable applicants should have experience of working in a top tier COMAH environment, ideally with Compex experience/qualification.
In the event of a breakdown the Technician will be responsible for investigating the fault and ensuring that repairs are completed with minimum impact on production and SHE (safety, health and environment).
The Technician will carry out routine testing of safety critical equipment, also be involved in small projects, commissioning and will interact with other members of the maintenance and production teams.
General workshop skills will be required.
Duties will include, but not limited to:
- To follow company electrical isolation practises to mechanical and electrical maintenance.
- To be able to 'test for dead' for 'permits to work' and safe work.
- Proactive in fault finding and other general maintenance.
- Carry out portable electrical appliance testing and RCDs and EMLs
- Monitor asset integrity and highlight improvements to the discipline engineer.
- The role requires a good understanding of electrical equipment/distribution to 415v, all type of motor starting (AC only), with the ability to install, fault find, inspect, test and repair.
- A good understanding of electrical/instrument schematic/loop drawings, etc.
- Use test equipment to test, fault find and calibrate Electrical and Instrument systems. Be familiar and have worked on instruments to measure:- pressure, level, flow, temperature and gas detection.
Required:
- The Technician will have completed an Electrical/Instrumentation apprenticeship or equivalent ideally with at least two years post apprenticeship experience in a similar role. Qualifications such as NVQ/BTech in E and/or I discipline etc would be desirable.
- Experience of working on and maintaining process plant and equipment. Experience in working in high hazard environments (COMAH)
- High level of commitment to SHE (Safety Health & Environment) and effective work performance
- Good thinking and diagnostic skills
Rate: £26-£28ph
Hours: Day shift, Mon-Fri
Start: Immediate, min of 12 months work
