Contract: Permanent. Part-time - 26 hours per week.

There is a possibility of the post being full-time.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced paediatric Occupational Therapist with vision, energy and clinical expertise to make a significant contribution to our Occupational Therapy Service.

Working in partnership with the current Clinical and Professional Lead OT and alongside the Universal Service and the Social Communication Team Leads you will be responsible for the development and implementation of a graduated offer for children with SEN who have occupational therapy needs in mainstream settings across Haringey from 5 - 19. This will include developing the training offer to Local Authority partners, schools and parents/carers to ensure the offer is clear, well communicated and meets the needs of children and families in Haringey.

The post holder would be part of the friendly and innovative Haringey Children's Therapy Team based in Tottenham and would lead a team of OTs to develop the pathway, working closely with other therapy leads, the local authority and commissioners.

In Haringey, there is a strong focus on clinical audit, user involvement and outcomes and identified centralised funds to support ongoing professional development. Whittington Health has a large number of OTs and there will be opportunities for professional development and supervision within the network.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will work alongside commissioners, local authority colleagues, educational settings and the parent/carer forum to ensure that children receive timely Occupational Therapy support to reach their educational potential within their settings.

They will have a key role in working with the local authority around those engaging the tribunal process, explaining and advocating how children's needs are met in Haringey.

About us

Whittington Health serves a richly diverse population and works hard to ensure that all our services are fair and equally accessible to everyone. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the way we look after our staff. We aim to employ a workforce which is as representative as possible of this population, so we are open to the value of differences in age, disability, gender, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race, sexual orientation, and religion or belief. The Trust believes that as a public sector organisation we have an obligation to have recruitment, training, promotion and other formal employment policies and procedures that are sensitive to these differences. We think that by doing so, we are better able to treat our patients as well as being a better place to work.
