Respiratory Support Worker

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. The shift pattern of this position is Monday-Friday, 0830-1630.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the acute based Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service for a Band 3 Respiratory Health Care Support Worker.
The post-holder will be an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team providing support and assistance to the Respiratory Physiotherapists and Respiratory Clinical Nurse Specialists to support the delivery of a high quality Pulmonary Rehabilitation programmes within hospital settings and community venues.
The post-holder will assist the team to deliver prescribed Pulmonary Rehabilitation programmes to maximise functional independence and rehabilitation potential for patients with chronic lung disease.
The post-holder will assist those registered professionals working under their supervision and guidance in undertaking both clinical and non-clinical tasks.
This post will be instrumental in helping to deliver the highest quality respiratory care inclusive of the ongoing implementation and scale up of the Dynamic Scotland COPD digital platform.
We would welcome a motivated, enthusiastic and flexible individual to complement our existing and supportive multi-disciplinary team.
Previous experience in a health care environment is preferable but not essential. Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and a high standard of both written and verbal communication. A full training package will be provided.
Applications will be welcome from those with a keen interest in working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support the delivery of high quality clinical care to improve health outcomes for patients with chronic respiratory illness and have an interest in rehabilitative respiratory care as well as service re-design and the implementation of digital innovation within healthcare.
