A highly reputable and well-established Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Maths Second in Charge (2ic) to join the permanent staff list of their outstanding school in Brent. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and talented individual to further their career within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

As the Maths 2ic, the successful candidate will support the Head of Maths in the leadership and management of the department. The role includes a blend of teaching responsibilities and leadership duties, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education and fostering a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Maths in the strategic leadership and development of the Maths department.
  • Support curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation to ensure it meets the needs of all students.
  • Deliver engaging and challenging Maths lessons to students at various key stages.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the department.
  • Mentor and support Maths teachers to improve their practice and professional development.
  • Contribute to the analysis of student data to inform teaching strategies and interventions.
  • Ensure high standards of student behaviour and academic achievement within the department.
  • Collaborate with other departments and senior leadership to promote cross-curricular initiatives and whole-school objectives.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in Mathematics or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Maths teacher with a track record of excellent classroom practice.
  • Experience in a leadership or management role within a school setting, preferably as a Maths 2ic or similar.
  • Strong understanding of the Maths curriculum and effective teaching methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying abreast of educational best practices.
  • Passion for education and a dedication to student success.
