JobSummary:

Tocontribute to the efficient and effective health and safety servicedelivery ensuring resources are mobilised proactively. Tocontribute to a high performance and continuous improvement culturedelivering and promoting and embedding best practice methods andstandards.

Lead by examplein modelling and embedding the council s values and behavioursworking collaboratively with services across the council partnersand stakeholders to deliver the council s objectives and prioritiesto help build a sustainable highly effective organisation anddevelop our reputation as a successful council delivering greatvalue for itsresidents.

Support theHealth and Safety Manager in delivering and developing excellentstandards policies procedures and processes relating to health andsafety. To advise Head Teachers (15 Schools) Directors and managersacross the council on all health and safety related matters. Toaudit departments on their applications of health and safetypolicies andprocedures.

KeyDuties(Sample):

Toadvise Management Team and Departments of pertinent changes to UKand European legislation and ensure the Authority is in compliancein allareas.

Advise MembersChief Executive Chief Officers and Service Managers on H&Smatters as and whenrequired

Manage anddevelop the Corporate Occupational Health contract to ensure thatthe Council receives a service to the highest possible standardthis includes stress related illness and financialcounselling

Tocontribute to the development of effective business partnerships inrelation to health and safety through establishing good customerrelationships organising and delivering good services andappropriate advice and by regularly monitoring and reviewingperformance.

Toassist the Health and Safety Manager in achieving high qualityservice delivery and meeting agreeddeadlines.

Tocontribute to the continuous improvement and effective monitoringof health and safety policies systems and procedures so that bestpractice isachieved.

Toundertake health and safety audits and Radiation Protection OfficerAudits having regard to standards and policies required bylegislation regulations the HSE and other relevantbodies.

Toundertake project and research work on health and safety issues tosupport corporate and servicerequirements.

Toplan organise and deliver training courses to support the effectivedelivery of health and safety services in theCouncil.

Tosupport and attend council Health and Safety Committees and theBuilding ComplianceCommittee.

EssentialExperienceRequired:

Experienceevidenced by a record of success of managing a significant healthand safety function or service in a large multidisciplinedorganisation with comparable scope budgets andresources

Experience ofmaintaining partnerships and productive working relationshipswithin a complex policy and service environment with seniormanagers and councillors schools and a wide range of other bodiessuch as partner organisations communities public agencies andstatutorybodies.

Aproven track record of analysing and providing advice and guidanceon local government health and safety issues including legislativechange and horizonscanning.

Ability tomeaningfully contribute to strategic decisionmaking includingmaking evidencebased decisions in a fastpacedenvironment.

Ability tofacilitate change developing productive and collaborative ways ofworking with colleagues and stakeholders leading and motivatingothers to achieve continuousimprovement.

Demonstrates anawareness of the Values and behaviours expected from Slough BoroughCouncil to promote a positive working environment andculture.

Therole is hybrid with one third in the office one third supportingschools and one third working fromhome
