Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Practitioner to work within the Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion service.

We are an all age, all vulnerability service identifying and supporting mental health concerns, as well as unmet social needs, with the aim to reduce the cycle of reoffending.

Based within Mental Health Urgent Care Sub-Directorate, we are a referral, assessment and signposting service embedded at the heart of the criminal justice system across Coventry and Warwickshire. We work in Police Custody and Court Services, as well as health bases, alongside our key partners such as the Police, Probation Service, Youth Justice and Magistrates.

The successful applicant will be primarily based within the existing Leamington Police Custody area of the service supporting referrals from our partners via policeas well as external referrals from key partners in line with the service model.

The successful applicant will undertake holistic assessments, identifying vulnerabilities and liaising with appropriate stakeholders such as Police and Courts, as well as other services within our Trust, the third sector and beyond to meet unmet needs and reduce the cycle of reoffending.

Main duties of the job

Are you an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse, Learning Disability Nurse, Occupational Therapist and Social worker with a mental health background?

Are you able to demonstrate a commitment to high quality care and service provision?

Have the ability to work flexibly, encourage innovation and work as part of a multi-agency team?

Have the ability to assess and formulate risk plans?

Have enhanced communication, problem solving and inter- personal skills?

And happy to be police vetted?

Job responsibilities

The Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion service is a an existing successful service embedded in the heart of the criminal justice system, all age/all vulnerability we support some of the most marginalised people within society with a range of health and social needs in the hope that working together we can make subsequent health gains, reduce health inequalities and reduce the cycle of re offending .

We are a growing, innovative and supportive team. The service has expanded significantly since its inception in 2014 and will continue to do so into the future.

The post holder will work alongside existing team members as well as our key stakeholders - Police/Magistrates/Probation and other third sector and voluntary areas.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Current Professional Registration - including Registered Mental Health Nurse, Registered Learning disability Nurse, Occupational therapist, Social Worker, or other allied health professional relevant to mental health (degree level).

Experience

Essential

Experience of working in mental health as a qualified professional Proven ability to work with other professional groups within and outside of NHS Experience of working autonomously and making decisions around patient care particularly around risk assessment/management of care/support needs Ability to liaise effectively with statutory and voluntary services

The post holder must be willing to travel, have a valid full driving licence and have access to independent means of transport
