Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic candidateto join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with people who areaffected by offending and substance misuse within a residential rehabilitativeenvironment. Via Passmores House deliver high quality services includingspecialist prescribing services, rapid access to treatment, and other healthand wellbeing interventions to better equip individuals to improve theirphysical and mental health. This position requires a Nurse with appropriate andvalid registration with the NMC and experience of working with individuals whouse alcohol or substances. We arelooking for Nurses with a minimum of 12 months substance misuse experience, whowould like to gain knowledge in the developing area of detoxification fromalcohol, the new wave of psychoactive drugs as well as opiate detoxificationand stabilisation.

Main duties of the job

Our clients presentwith complex needs and a multitude of both physical and psychological challenges.We are offer excellent in house training as well as the chance of furthercourses once the probationary period is completed satisfactorily. Good communication skills both written andverbal are essential. Confidence to work as part of a multidisciplinary teamwith an interest and commitment in group work. Participation in the unitsgroup programme is a requirement as team working is essential.

About us

Passmores House is aresidential recovery community for people with a dependency on drugs and/oralcohol, we offer residential detoxification and stabilisation packages, aswell a full rehabilitation programme, all built around the individual. Thehouse is based in a beautifully renovated and historic building, set in a leafypark close to the transport hub of Harlow in Essex.

Job responsibilities

Role Purpose

To deliver excellent drug and alcoholservices to service users in an inpatient setting, including the service userssignificant others in the plan, to maximise positive outcomes.

Where indicated, provide Alcohol,Opiate and any other substance detoxification support and management includingliaising with Hospital, Community, medical and support, staff.

Deliver general health care support,including Wound Care, ECGs, healthcare assessments, medication administrationand other similar activities.

Undertake basic life support/anaphylaxis training so you are confident and competent to manage a medicalemergency including the administration of emergency drugs.

Key duties and activities of the role

Deliver harm reduction advice, guidanceand education. To include blood borne virus interventions (screening,vaccination and treatment access), overdose prevention including naloxoneprogrammes, health and wellbeing screening brief and facilitated signposting orreferral to partner services, including primary care.

Provide high quality, person centred,low threshold services, responding to the individual and diverse needs andpreferences of our service users and their significant others.

Deliver evidence-based clinical andpsychosocial one-to-one and group interventions as part of an effectivelyintegrated care package. Taking an assertive approach to service userdisengagement.

Enable service users to accesseducation and employment services and health, wellbeing and recovery activitiesand education, including signposting to services.

Support students, volunteers, peermentors and service user representatives to take an active part in Viaservices.

Identify risks and take appropriateaction in accordance with local, national and organisational Safeguardingpolicies, contributing to multi-disciplinary review meetings.

Maintain accurate and timely recordsusing the designated case management system in compliance with Via InformationGovernance policies and procedures.

Essential

Ensure that the treatment plan is adhered to supporting wider health education, medication administration and any other appropriate activities. Demonstrable commitment to ensuring excellent communication of treatment plans offered, treatment progress and outcomes of any investigations to other healthcare agencies, including GPs, to achieve good outcomes for service users. Passion for and understanding of working in substance misuse services or with other socially excluded or vulnerable groups. With a proven ability to meet deadlines, record information accurately and in a timely way and to work calmly under pressure. Great team working, communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrating a highly cooperative approach to supporting colleagues and the whole team to deliver Service objectives, as well as in working directly with service users and their significant others. Demonstrable ability to deliver an excellent quality level of service to people with complex needs. This includes the ability to work with people on a one-to one basis or to facilitate group sessions, to be able to complete assessments, care and support plans, risk assessments and to complete case recording to a high standard and in a timely way. Good IT skills including use of Microsoft Office programs and digital meeting platforms and Case Management Systems such as Nebula, System One or Theseus. A demonstrable understanding of the Health and Social Care regulatory requirements of the Care Quality Commission (CQC), National Institute for Clinical Excellence standards for Health and Social Care and any other relevant bodies. Demonstrable commitment to working in partnership with other professionals such as criminal justice agencies, community groups and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for our service users. The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in different settings ( written, spoken, presented, etc) and to different groups of people.

Qualifications

Essential

Registered nurse (RMN, RGN or Learning Disabilities Nurse) with an active PIN number and ensuring that revalidation requirements are met and effectively communicated.
