Job summary

The Practice is currently looking to fill a vacancyfor a

Dispenser / Receptionist

We are looking for someone who will work well underpressure, have excellent communication and IT skills with a good educationalbackground. Relevant dispensing qualification is essential and customer serviceexperience is desirable.

Main dutieswill include dispensing medication to patients, preparing blister packs andworking on reception in our busy Practice using our clinical system. Experienceof working in General Practice would be advantageous but not essential.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary can include but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing of information and assisting patients as act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

To be responsible for the processing of prescriptions in accordance with practice policy and extant legislation. In addition, the post holder will be required to support the dispensary manager in ensuring a high-level of service is delivered at all times whilst supporting the multi-disciplinary team in line with the strategic objectives of the practice.

Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the receptionist. There may be onoccasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent uponfactors such as workload and staffing levels:

Maintainingand monitoring the practice appointment system

Processpersonal, telephone and e-requests for appointments

Answerincoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers requestappropriately

Signpostpatients to the correct service

Initiatingcontact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members andexternal agencies

Readcode data on EMIS

Photocopydocumentation as required

Dataentry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information asrequired

Inputdata into the patients healthcare records as necessary

Directrequests for information SAR, insurance / solicitors letters and DVLAforms to the administrative team

Manageall queries as necessary in an efficient manner including emis tasks and emails

Completeand log the daily fridge temperature and monthly data logging on TeamNet

Carryout system searches as requested

Maintaina clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

Monitorand maintain the reception area and notice boards

Supportall clinical staff with general tasks as requested

Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the dispenser. There may be, onoccasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent uponfactors such as workload and staffing levels:

Tobe responsible for checking all medicines dispensed, ensuring there are nodiscrepancies

Dispensingmedicines to the entitled population safely and accurately

Collectingprescription charges in accordance with dispensary protocol

Maintainingstock levels within the dispensary, liaising with the dispensary manager tofacilitate reordering

Receivingand storing supplies in accordance with current policy, ensuring the cold chainis maintained where applicable

Ensuringcontrolled drugs are dispensed in accordance with practice policy

Safedisposal of returned and/or out of date medicines

Ensuringall repeat prescriptions are processed within a 72-hour timeframe, preferably48-hour timeframe if achievable.

Providingpatients with advice regarding all prescription matters within remit.

Processprescription requests via email, phone, face-to-face and online
