If you're a dedicated and enthusiastic veterinarian seeking an enriching internship, we welcome you to be a part of our team. As a Rotating Veterinary Intern, you'll play a crucial role in our veterinary care team, gaining exposure to diverse specialties in our clinic. This role is crafted to offer a comprehensive and well-rounded experience, enabling interns to rotate through various departments during the internship period.

Responsibilities will include assisting with all aspects of patient care and client service. This includes working night shifts to provide after-hours care for hospitalised patients, managing new referrals, and participating in weekend rotations. Joining our expansive, multicultural team, you'll be surrounded by clinicians, residents, rotating interns, and discipline-specific interns, fostering a supportive and enjoyable work environment where everyone collaborates and uplifts each other.

Work in a State-of-the-art Hospital

Pride Veterinary Referrals is the central small animal hospital for the Scarsdale Veterinary Group, a multi-species practice employing over 300 staff across 11 sites in the Midlands. At Pride we offer specialist services in internal medicine, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, neurology, diagnostic imaging, anaesthesia, ophthalmology, cardiology and dermatology and on-site hydro- and physiotherapy. The state-of-the-art hospital provides 24/7 veterinary care, supported by a dedicated night team. 

We work closely with the University of Nottingham, with the veterinary students rotating through first opinion and referral services at Pride. We are located at the edge of Derby city centre with good transport links to major cities via road and rail network. East Midlands Airport and Birmingham International Airport offer convenient access to domestic and international destinations. The beautiful Peak District is just around the corner.

We have an experienced, friendly team of 100+ veterinary professionals at Pride who deliver specialist-led care across all disciplines, collaborating to provide the best possible outcome for all our patients.

What We’re Looking For

You must be MRCVS or MRCVS eligible Eligible to work in the UK independently or under a Visa Sponsorship For non-native English speakers, evidence of competency in speaking English, as determined by a formal qualification in English (such as IELTS or TOEFL) is desirable A minimum of twelve months experience as a qualified veterinary surgeon in small animal practice in the UK is desirable, however exceptional new graduates may be considered. We are looking for highly motivated, proactive, team players that thrive in a large, busy hospital. You must be able to work autonomously and under supervision. You will need excellent communication and be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.

Working Hours

This is a full-time role composing of 39 hours over 5 days per week. Working hours to be agreed but "standard" day is 8:30 - 6pm with 1 hour lunch unpaid. The rota is currently planned over 7 weeks and offers 5 weekends off. You will be scheduled to work a week of nights (split into a weekend and a midweek block) within each rotation with days off in the week to ensure you are refreshed after working nights.
