Become a School Governor at Bitterne Park School
Are you passionate about education and committed to making a difference in your local community? Bitterne Park School is seeking a volunteer to join its Governing Board as School Governors. This voluntary position offers a unique opportunity to shape the strategic direction of the school and contribute to the success and wellbeing of its students. Training is provided, and reasonable agreed expenses may be reimbursed. We welcome applications from individuals with enthusiasm, an interest in education, and a willingness to learn. In particular, we are keen to hear from those with experience or knowledge in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
About the RoleAs a School Governor, you will collaborate with other governors and school leaders to ensure the school delivers the best possible education for its students. You will play a key role in decision-making, strategic planning, and providing support and challenge to the school’s leadership team.
Key Responsibilities- Attend regular meetings and contribute to discussions on school policies and strategic priorities.
- Help to establish the vision and ethos of the school, ensuring it reflects the needs of the community.
- Monitor the school’s performance and hold leaders accountable for educational outcomes.
- Support the school with budgetary decisions and resource allocation.
- Engage with stakeholders, including parents, students, and the local community, to gather insights and feedback.
- Make a meaningful impact on the lives of students and the wider school community.
- Gain valuable experience in governance and leadership.
- Work alongside a dedicated team committed to educational excellence.
- Access personal and professional development through training workshops and resources.

Requirements
- Commitment to the vision and values of Bitterne Park School.

- Willingness to learn about school governance and the education system.
- Experience in education, business, finance, community work, or relevant fields is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Availability to attend meetings and participate actively in the governance of the school.
