The Service team at Ultra Intelligence & Communications C2I is looking for an experienced Service Engineer to join the team in Burridge.
Scope:
Work within the service team on a variety of Ultra products but mainly focused on the Ultra Tactical Datalink product (ADSI). Provide Customer support with the helpdesk and fault finding; work both in the office / workshop and at customers’ sites.
Key Responsibilities
Complete scheduled maintenance on Ultra systems in accordance with current maintenance routines.
Installation and commissioning of Ultra supplied equipment and systems at customer sites.
Fault diagnosis and repair of Ultra supplied equipment in workshop and at customer sites, ensure all test procedures and site records are accurately updated.
Document all activities as detailed in the Ultra Business Management System including Site Reports, Defect Reports, Delivery Notes and Job Cards.
Assist other team members in the identification of more complex problems and apply diagnostic methods to identify causes and propose possible solutions.
Provide technical support and resolve faults on Ultra systems.
Provide estimates (time & materials) for tasks and deliver to them.
Adhere to company practices and policies, reporting any health and safety issues.
Manage records and arrange for the repair of customer returned items as directed and in accordance to Ultra processes.
Provide training to customers and other engineers on Ultra supplied products, particularly for the Ultra Tactical Datalink product (ADSI).
Liaise with and provide technical support to other departments such as Projects, Production and Development.
Writing of technical reports, specifications and test procedures.
Provision of practical engineering support to other activities within Ultra, where time and priorities permit.
Plan travel arrangements and maintain records of expenditures for site visits.
Manage security of information as defined in the Security manual to ensure compliance with Government regulations.
Role Requirements:
Essential:
Willing and able to obtain, and maintain, SC security clearance
Desirable:
Willing and able to obtain, and maintain, DV security clearance
Qualifications / Skills Required:
Essential:
Experience installing, maintaining and repairing complex electronic systems.
Good understanding of IT, Networks and Software based solutions.
Basic skills in wiring and mechanical fitting and use of both bench and hand portable test equipment.
Flexible approach to working hours and patterns inclusive of anti-social hours, such as weekends and bank holidays. Willing to work overtime and to travel to customer sites in the UK and overseas as required.
ONC / HNC / HND or Degree in Electronic / Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or qualified by experience.
Desirable:
Technical knowledge of Tactical Datalinks and their interfaces.
Operational experience of the use of Tactical Datalinks (Link 11, Link 16, Link 22, etc.).
Knowledge of System Engineering practices, methodologies, processes, techniques and technology trends.
Formal qualifications in IT / Software or related discipline.
