Job summary

EPUT is looking to appoint a compassionate and enthusiastic Specialty Doctor who will provide consistent, high quality Medical input support to the Specialist Mental Health team based at the Gables, Braintree.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide medical input to the patients under the SMHT regarding, assessment, diagnosis and management of SMI patients. The post holder will liaise regularly with Community specialist Mental Health Teams for patient with severe mental health disorders whom require care coordination. The post holder will also liaise with Primary Care, IAPT and local mental health services when indicated. This will cover the Braintree PCNs in mid Essex with another CT and a fulltime Consultant.

The post holder will have shared responsibility for the clinical care of SMHT patients and will be expected to work closely with the consultant, GPs, Primary care practitioner's team manager to ensure the provision of an effective responsive.

You should be eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold Section 12 (2) approval under the Mental Health Act 1983. You will also need to provide evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competences in psychiatry at time of application and likelihood of achieving CT2 competences in psychiatry by the start date of the post.

Job responsibilities

Assessing new patients for specialist mental health diagnosis when indicated. Drafting treatment plans in a bio psychosocial model Working closely with primary care / GP/ Voluntary sector / Social prescriber Regular liaison with the SMHT Area consultant for patients requiring ongoing care coordination or secondary care treatment for severe mental health conditions Offer advice for the team when needed Arrangement and review of investigations when indicated. Audit and service development. Contribution to management in team meetings. Attending the MDT Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

MBBS or equivalent medical qualification

Desirable

Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment. and Section 12 (2) approval under the Mental Health Act 1983.

Skills

Essential

Clinical judgement: experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need. Relevant specialty clinical knowledge: capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the job and specialty Practical skills: shows aptitude for practical skills, required in the job. Proven ability to work effectively in different clinical settings required in the job
