Ilford, United Kingdom Barnardos Full time
Do you have a strong, up to date, understanding of Neurodevelopmental Conditions? Especially ADHD and ASC Are you able to support children and young people as well as professionals? Are you able to communicate effectively sharing your professional judgement and advice in appropriate ways depending on your audience?  Do you have experience working with children, young people, parents and carers and professionals?

A new and exciting service has been co created between Barnardo's, Eikon and NAS. Funded by Surrey and Borders NHS Trust and sitting under Surrey Wellbeing Partnership, the support provided by this new service lies under the Mindworks Alliance.

This role is to deliver a co designed menu of support to professionals within the boroughs of Surrey. To deliver a pilot programme to parents and/or carers in schools for a 5 week period. To deliver ADHD training to groups of professionals throughout the duration of the contract. NAS will be delivering ASC specialised training to professionals, and Eikon will be delivering SEND Advice and Guidance training to professionals creating an extensive menu of training to Mindworks/Surrey professionals.

Our Barnardo's ADHD training day is a pre designed programme held by Barnardo's and training and guidance for this delivery will be given once appointed. This training is also offered to schools as part of another Surrey and Borders NHS Trust Contract.

The role for this service includes being a key member of the School Based Needs Cluster groups for four boroughs in Surrey. Barnardo's are taking leadership of: Mole Valley, Epsom and Ewell, Reigate and Banstead and Tandridge. The successful applicant will need to be able to travel around these boroughs of the county as some consultations could be in person with professionals or CYPF within school settings in these boroughs. This vacancy will be for the successful applicant to sit on the cluster meetings within Reigate and Banstead and Tandridge, but face to face meetings and in school delivery of sessions will be across all 4 boroughs.

Barnardo's have appointed one member of the team and are now looking for one more practitioner to join the team.
Each organisation, Barnardo's, NAS and Eikon are appointing 2 practitioners, creating an extended team of 6 professionals.

The practitioners appointed will provide impactful, school-based support to parents and carers of children and young people, and offer consultancy, professional training and advice to school staff, school-based needs teams and system wide partners. The aim is to improve the knowledge and confidence of those supporting children, young people and their families with additional and potentially neurodivergent needs, at an early stage.

The role for colleagues within the Barnardo's team will be predominantly working within Mole Valley, Epsom and Ewell, Reigate and Banstead and Tandridge, but at times will require travel across Surrey. Access to a car is essential.

This service has been funded until 31/01/2026, or until financial envelop ends. Care and dedication within the team and management, as well as in partnership with Eikon and NAS will be taken to secure future funding for this service to continue past this point. Should this not be successful Barnardo's employees will go into consultation and their contract might reach an end.
