Please read our package, below, to see what benefits we offer you. Hours: Flexible 0-hour role. This is an hourly paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. Working on average 1-2 days in term time and 4-5 days in school holidays. Weekend working is essential due to Sudbury being open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Shifts will be worked between 8.30 and 5.30. Salary: £11.88 per hour. Duration: Fixed-term contract for 12 months. Interview dates: From 17th June 2024.
What it's like to work here
Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, you'll be based at The Children’s Country House at Sudbury (Ashbourne, Derbyshire, DE6 5HT), a visitor offer for children and families, offering a playful heritage day out. Recently reopened, we’ve been working alongside children and their families to design a heritage attraction that works for them and makes them feel engaged and empowered. As well as the Hall and Museum, Sudbury has a bookshop, activity centre, gardens and the Fairy Tale Forest Café, serving seasonal snacks and drinks.?

What you'll be doing
As a Team Leader, you’ll be giving day-to-day support to your team, to make sure they’re consistently giving great service to everyone who comes to the café. This is a busy, lively place to work, so you’ll need to be adaptable.
Your focus will be front of house, dealing directly with people and serving them food and drink. Crucial to this role will be your love of working with people, your positive ‘can-do’ attitude and your desire to provide an outstanding service.
Using your excellent eye for detail, you’ll make sure all displays and signs are accurate, and that the food is looking good. At times, you may need to help the kitchen team with preparing food.
You’ll also be supervising the induction and training of colleagues, to help build a team that’s dedicated to great service and to giving people a day to remember.
We’ll give you an induction that fits the job, and training in allergens and food safety, plus any mentoring needed to help you in your role. You can sign up for further professional training and development if you wish.
