We are looking for a compassionate, caring and motivated individual to join our team at Clinical Investigation Unit Chorley Hospital.

Clinical Investigation Unit is a busy, fast paced department, where every day is different.Ideally, you would be working Monday to Friday over 4 or 5 days (24 hours in total) hours open to discussion for the right person.

Main duties of the job

You will possess excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills, attention to detail being a key characteristic.

You will ensure that standards of service are maintained, have a strongly held commitment to high standards of service delivery.

You will be responsible for providing an efficient and effective reception, completing all necessary ward clerk jobs with strict adherence to Trust protocols, being aware of the need for confidentiality and integrity and being the first point of contact for patients attending our department.

You will deal with all aspects of the ward clerk role including organising for clinics, managing appointments and supporting the band 6 on the unit with patient admin as well as actively participating in the receptionist process, activating outpatient appointments and updating patient demographics and supporting organisation on the unit.

You will be expected to support the ongoing Digitisation process of our service.

You will be multi-skilled following training, have a full understanding and working knowledge of a reception area and the basic functionality of the clinical systems.

D uties to include but not be limited to:

Demonstrate an approachable, courteous, efficient appointment service to all Health Care Professions, patients, carers and relatives. Actively contribute towards service development. Maintain good communication skills when dealing with colleagues, patients, relatives, carers and other health care professions, utilising a variety of communication methods including verbal and electronic. Constructively managing barriers to effective communication. Use initiative to resolve conflicts in a mutually agreeable way, escalating to management where necessary. Maintain confidentiality at all times as required by legislation and Trust Policy. Person Specification

Qualifications and Education

Essential

Educated to GCSE level

Desirable

English and Maths GCSE level or equivalent Knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

Previous receptionist experience Experience of working in a changing environment Computer Literate, experienced in data entry and use of e-mail Understanding of Information Governance, Data Quality, Patient Confidentiality and its requirements

Desirable

Previous NHS/Public sector experience, including direct customer care. Previous experience of working within a busy outpatient appointments environment
