Role Purpose

The Performance Team is primarily responsible for the calculation, analysis and reporting of the firm’s investment performance.

Working closely with a wide range of internal stakeholders, the team provide a variety of performance data and information intended for clients, consultants and prospects. The team also undertake bespoke analysis for the firm’s Research and Client Service teams and provide performance information for governance committees and the firm’s parent (BNYM).

Additionally, the team are responsible for the firm’s continuing compliance with the GIPS standards and work closely with external auditors to ensure the smooth running of the annual verification. The team also have responsibility for the sourcing, management and governance of benchmark indices including oversight of certain vendors. 

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with colleagues from all levels of the firm to deliver performance information to clients/prospects/consultants
• Produce attribution and other performance analysis reports
• Review daily exception reports and maintenance of key performance systems
• Manage and produce communications to meet scheduled deadlines
• Contribute to ongoing firmwide projects and initiatives

Technical Skills & Knowledge

• Microsoft Excel – Intermediate/expert level
• FactSet (advantageous)
• Eagle performance system (advantageous)
• Experience and working knowledge of performance calculations/analysis
• Familiarity with GIPS Standards
• Knowledge of equity indices
• Knowledge of investment risk (advantageous)
• Knowledge of Power BI (advantageous

Academic & Professional Qualifications

• Educated to a degree level
• CIPM/CFA (or currently studying towards one of these qualifications) – advantageous
• IOC/IMC

This presents an opportunity for an Analyst (< yrs experience) or Senior Analyst (> yrs experience) to join a highly regarded, tight knit team in an outstanding business where everyone contributes.

The successful candidate will develop a deep knowledge of Walter Scott client portfolios and investment strategies, a strong performance measurement skill-set and good general firm awareness that will allow them to make a meaningful contribution to the work of the wider firm. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, comfortable working and interacting with colleagues in all areas and at all levels of the organisation. They will have the opportunity to represent the team in various firm-wide projects or initiatives and potentially at governance committee meetings.

At the very least, the successful candidate will be a strong team player, numerate with an aptitude for analysis and problem solving, and be prepared to roll their sleeves up when needed
