About the team or project:

We are looking for a dynamic Senior Automation Test Engineer to join our Engineering team. At MMU, we manage a diverse range of systems within our software engineering team, encompassing a broad spectrum of technologies and solutions servicing all aspects of the University.

Our team comprises a range of Engineers and Analysts across our divisions with unique skillsets and subject matter knowledge.

We are invested in continuous innovation and improvement within our ways of working and our people with a key focus on process automation, particular in the quality assurance space.

This role will require the successful candidate to:

Stand up and implement automation test frameworks across a range of technology stacks (primarily C#).Implement automated testing solutions at multiple solution layers, including UI, API and Integration points and back-end validation within a consolidated suite of frameworks.Design integrations between automation tools and our test management tooling to aid centralised and efficient reporting and analysis.Identify opportunities to implement test automation within existing solutions.Develop UI automation tests using technologies such as Selenium and JavaScript and utilising BDD/Gherkin methodologies.Develop frameworks to support compatibility testing across a range of browsers and devices using solutions such as BrowserStack or LambdaTestDevelop API and other integration automated tests.Develop performance and load test scripts in JavaScript, using tools such as JMeter and K6Support the implementation of automated accessibility testing tools within CI Pipelines

The successful candidate will:

Have a strong background in test automation design.Be able to demonstrate experience in designing and implementing test frameworks using tools such a Specflow or Nunit (C#) / Playwright or Cypress (JS)Have experience in implementing API test automation with outcome assertion.Be fully conversant with concepts of BDD and its application within automation testing.Be able to implement frameworks utilising a page object model and to drive process to ensure appropriate reusability and low maintenance of the frameworks.Have experience working with an agile environment along with being able to accurately support, estimate and plan within teams around the effort and timings of automation test design and implementation.Be able to clearly communicate potentially technical concepts to non-technical teammates and business stakeholders.Demonstrate their ability to innovate and continuously question existing process with the intention of driving continued improvement and efficiency in the testing process.

It is also desirable that the candidate will:

Be experienced in designing and implementing performance and load tests that may be executed at both the front and back end of systems.Have some experience with component integration and contract testing.Be comfortable in validating data within data layers of systems, ideally able to create reasonably complex SQL queries within test routines.
