Shrewsbury, United Kingdom National Trust Full time

Summary

We're looking for a Land and Nature Project Manager to lead our bold Attingham Nature Recovery Project, on the Attingham Estate in Shropshire. We’re now at a critical and exciting phase following several years of feasibility to inform land-use change. The Trust has recently approved a major project which will deliver £3.4million of investment in nature restoration over the next 10 years on the estate.

What it's like to work here

You’ll be part of the Trust’s internal consultancy: a flexible resource of specialist skills and expertise. As one of a multidisciplinary team of experts, including curators, fundraisers, building surveyors and project managers, you’ll be working with others to help make things happen.

As this role covers the Attingham Estate your contractual location will be on the estate, but our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week.

The post is offered on a full-time basis for 24 months starting in January 2025.

What you'll be doing

You will plan and deliver Attingham’s Nature Recovery aspirations for habitat creation and improvement, through the delivery of over 150 hectares of woodland creation, as well as wetland creations and river restorations, and natural flood management interventions.

You’ll lead the multi-disciplinary project team of Property, Consultancy, Estates and Project support colleagues to work effectively to support tenant farmers to adapt to land use transition at Attingham.

Building a collaborative partnership with the Environment Agency you’ll progress plans for nature-based solutions on the river in the estate and you’ll strengthen existing and build further relationships with neighbouring landowners and landscape partners to influence and support action for nature in the wider Severn catchment and nurture future partnership opportunities.

You’ll help secure funding needed to implement these changes, balancing a blend of public and private funding sources, to achieve high-quality nature outcomes.

Who we're looking for

We’d love to hear from you if you’re:

experienced with environmental sector and habitat restoration projects/nature recovery programs, with multiple senior internal and external stakeholders. able to demonstrate experience of successfully delivering complex end to end project/programme management, including defining resources, leading procurement, securing project teams and matrix management across multiple projects/Programmes. a Professional with technical knowledge and skills in project management demonstrated by a recognised project (AMP PMQ/Prince) or programme management (MSP) qualification or be prepared to study towards the Project Management qualification in 12 months. able to evidence ongoing CPD in your career to date. a flexible thinker and problem-solver, skilled at negotiating and building productive networks, and confident in using your expertise to influence decisions with senior leaders. a skilled communicator, with experience of managing complex and challenging situations with competing interests and a diverse range of people. a leader for inclusion, who finds ways to create an inclusive culture.

The package

The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart. We’re working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It’s important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we’re for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.
