About The Role
Job PurposeThe Sales Director will be responsible for creating, developing, and executing sales, business development, and marketing strategic plans to achieve organisational goals in sales, aimed at developing and expanding the customer base and delivering profitable business. This role includes leading and managing the sales team and supporting the marketing team to secure profitable business in line with the overall organisational strategy.

The Sales Director oversees all sales-related activities at Wernick Buildings, championing Customer Excellence. The ultimate responsibility is to facilitate work-winning activities by securing orders for the company's products and services that Wernick can deliver successfully. The role includes leading process improvements to enhance productivity and effectiveness across the business.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Planning: Create, develop, and execute strategic plans to reach sales targets and expand the customer base in line with business objectives, providing a pipeline of opportunities and committed orders.
Customer Excellence: Drive customer excellence across the business.
Sales Team Direction: Provide direction to the sales team in line with business strategy, leading, motivating, and measuring performance to ensure objectives are achieved.
Team Development: Maintain and develop an effective sales team by recruiting and training employees effectively.
Hands-On Leadership: Coach and mentor the sales team to improve performance while delivering excellent service to both internal and external customers.
Trusted Advisors: Enable the team to deliver value as trusted advisors, helping customers through their journey.
Sales Monitoring: Ensure effective sales monitoring is in place, capturing critical data related to conversion targets and market opportunities.
Forecasting: Create a mechanism for better forecasting of sales and likely order dates.
Standard Practices: Develop and implement standard sales operating practices and monitoring techniques.
Customer Visits: Accompany Regional Sales Managers and other personnel on customer visits as needed.
Personal Targets: Lead by example, managing and achieving personal targets for securing business across agreed sectors and geography.
Collaboration with Commercial Director: Work with the Commercial Director to ensure all tenders, proposals, and agreements are completed on time, meet client briefs, and are commercially competitive.
Marketing Collaboration: Work closely with Marketing to design and implement the organisation's sales strategy, ensuring the execution of the marketing plan.
Market Understanding: Effectively influence the marketing strategy by understanding markets and trends within the industry and vertical sectors.
Present new business opportunities and ideas to the Board of Directors.
Support the commercial, operations, and projects teams, impacting people, commercial activity, and profitability.
Collaborate with the Marketing, Product, and Leadership teams to capitalize on future market opportunities.
Lead and execute a change program to improve performance and create efficiencies.
Promote effective teamwork and communication across business functions.
Maximise existing customer relationships across the group.
Enhance the sales team's technical product knowledge.
Review and improve current sales processes.
Create a Sales Toolbox to aid the sales team.
Participate in industry events, trade shows, and other networking events, serving as a strong ambassador for Wernick.
Collaborate with HR to address any HR issues arising within the sales team.
Develop and execute Sales & Marketing plans in line with company objectives, improving the effectiveness and productivity of marketing and sales activities.
Establish reporting for effective forecasting and performance monitoring.
Support the bid team throughout the sales cycle, promoting and managing the bid process.
Work closely with Estimating Team, Designers, and Quantity Surveyors to ensure smooth operations and information flow.
Work with directors to evaluate and improve productivity and effectiveness across the organisation.
Manage other business projects/tasks under your portfolio as required.
