Job Description

We’re recruiting for an Equity Release Mortgage Underwriterto join us. We’re offering acompetitive base salary. You will provide and deliver resolution on medium to high risk or complex cases received by the underwriting team, in line with Group Service Levels, whilst adhering to strict audit and underwriting guidelines and criteria. What you'll be doing: Fully understanding of the Underwriting process and its controls ensuring all activity is compliant, ensuring the delivery of a high level of technical underwriting Assessing and processing applications where case is within mandate ensuring acceptability of risk and liability, then authorise as per Legal & General Home Finance (LGHF) guidelines escalating to Underwriting Manager/Technical Manager for more complex cases or queries Interacting with customers by telephone, e-mail and letter in order to gather information required to process and assess applications Applying knowledge to mentor and coach others, providing advice, guidance and technical input in order to improve understanding and job related skills Delivering a high standard of customer service and monitoring the standard exhibited by Junior Underwriters and Underwriting Administrators, highlighting areas for improvement to the Underwriting Manager Analysing underwriting data to identify trends and produce necessary reports or findings, including statistical information where appropriate in relation to underwriting activity and bring to the Underwriting management and team’s attention for review  QualificationsWho we're looking for: Experience as a Mortgage Underwriter Previous experience underwriting equity release, residential or buy to let cases Minimum of GCSE English and Mathematics or equivalent. Understanding of Anti Money Laundering (AML), ‘Treating Customers Fairly’ (TCF), Data Protection requirements. Strong verbal and written skills and attention to detail.
