We are looking for an Area Technical Manager to join our team, looking after our 4 centres within the South Somerset District.

You will be responsible for managing the contracts for all maintenance, technical and environmental issues, ensuring the buildings are well maintained along with mechanical and electrical plant equipment. Optimising the performance of the buildings to maximise energy and carbon savings, being instrumental in monitoring and reporting on building performance to the central team. The facilities across the area include sports facilities, swimming pools and therefore the ideal candidate will be both hands on and strategic with knowledge and experience of managing:

Hours: 37 hours a week, Monday to Sunday (Rota basis)

Requirements

  • Strong people management skills.
  • Experience of problem solving, organizational, customer service and staff management.
  • An understanding of identifying staff training and development requirements and identifying development opportunities.
  • A high awareness of industry developments, new initiatives, trends and research.
  • Commercial awareness which translates into contributing to a successful and financially viable operation.
  • A passion for the industry demonstrated through continuous professional development.
  • Good computer skills and understanding including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook.
  • Be able to prepare, control and manage budgets.
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to negotiate and persuade people both internally and externally
  • Team orientated approach, able to work across organisation boundaries and demonstrate interest and be supportive of the work of staff and colleagues.
  • To be able to work flexibly with a level of autonomy and decision making confidence.
  • The ability to deliver basic maintenance jobs and be ‘hands on’ when required.
  • Mobility to travel across sites.
