(c) JOB TITLE : Personal assistant (PA)  LOCATION: Morley and Surrounding Area  Job purpose:  To assist with a variety of tasks which will enable/assist the employer/person who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.  About the employer:  The employer’s son is a 12 year old boy who is very tall and strong for his age. He enjoys riding his bike, likes swimming and outdoor activities but not team sports. He has a very wide knowledge of trucks and tractors and loves to share his enthusiasm and knowledge. 

He has a diagnosis of autism and Tourretts and attends a school which specialises in meeting his SEND needs. He is very caring and likes to be helpful.
He has difficulty in dealing with change in his routine without being given previous, time specific notice and can become overwhelmed and dysregulated when not prepared. 

He has a limited attention span and needs to have frequent movement breaks.
He is vulnerable to suggestions from others and if dysregulated will not always recognise danger to himself or those around him but needs extra support to be able to develop independence to follow his interests.  Main duties:  Duties will mainly be support the employer’s son to develop more independence in a safe environment to enjoy social activities. Eg:- · To accompany and participate on local bike rides · To accompany and participate on visits to swimming pool · To accompany and participate on visits to bowling, trampolining visits etc. · Attend social visits to places of interest/cinema etc.. · Any other duties which are reasonable to carry out the needs of the position These duties are not specific and may vary according to the needs of the employer’s son. The Post Holder will need have an understanding of autism and needs to be physically fit to enable them to accompany and participate in various activities. Other attributes should be:- · Patience and the ability to use distraction tactics when necessary. · The ability to build a good, friendly relationship with the employer and their son based on trust and respect. · Be flexible and adaptable. · Be punctual and have a willingness to travel preferably with a full UK driving licence and access to a car. The Post Holder will be supported in access to training relative to their duties and will be supported by the employer and other family members during an agreed induction period.  Hours of work:  Hours of work are 6 hours a week during term time and 10 hours week during school holidays. They will be outside school hours either at a weekend and/or on an evening and flexible by mutual agreement.  Rate of pay:  £12.40 per hour.  Skills Required:   Essential  · Patient and calm manner · Ability to support people with behaviours which challenge. · Physically fit. · Bike rider and owner · Full UK Driving licence · Able to swim. · Confidentiality · Good at building relationships.  Preferred:  · Car owner · Computer literate · Good communicator Services
