This is a very exciting opportunity within Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust to train as a qualified Physiotherapist by completing the Level 6 Physiotherapy Degree Apprenticeship standard.

During the four year programme the Apprentice Physiotherapist will continue to deliver service and care within the Integrated Community Team (ICT). Additionally, they will be allocated supernumerary placements across a range of settings to gain and embed clinical skills and knowledge, to meet specific clinical competencies and learning outcomes, under the support and direction of practice supervisors and practice assessors.

On successful completion of the apprenticeship the successful apprentice will be able to apply for a Physiotherapist position within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The ICT is made up of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and nurses, who work closely with the reablement service provides a personalised care approach to patients in their own homes, and at times in clinic settings, to offer physiotherapy interventions to optimise quality of life and function. You will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to see urgent patients, those on the Home First pathway, and those requiring core physiotherapy intervention.

The post-holder will work with a wide range of conditions including musculoskeletal, respiratory, and neurological areas of practice. They will take delegated work from registered therapists, and take the lead on some triaged cases; working alone, jointly, and also in a group exercise setting.

To undertake this programme the applicant must be willing to resign from their current post, and be adaptable, reliable, and consistent to the demands of the undergraduate physiotherapy degree programme. The curriculum is designed to meet the needs of the changing health and social care environment will enable the Apprentice Physiotherapist to develop their resilience, and create the culture and conditions for health and care services and staff to deliver the highest standard of care. The applicant will be required to travel to the University of the West of England (UWE) for lectures during term-time (approximately once per week).

Qualifications and Study

Essential

English & Maths GCSE/O level Grades A-C, CSE 1 or equivalent Level 2 functional skills Evidence of recent (within the last 3 years), level 3 or above (A level of equivalent or above) study OR 128 UCAS credits to include Biology/Human Biology A Level or Equivalent Demonstration of the ability to study at Level 6 Degree in Physiotherapy and commit to completing the Degree Programme Evidence of ability to balance workload of programme study and clinical role
