Here is an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Interventional Radiology nurse
You will work as an integral part of the MSE Interventional Radiology team. You will use your existing skills to care for patients undergoing a variety of interventional procedures whilst being trained to scrub, circulate, and act as the patient nurse in our Interventional Radiology Theatre/Suite.
In addition to this, you will also be expected to rotate into the day case recovery unit and care for our patients pre and post procedure. Working in an ever-changing environment will require you to use your excellent communication, time management and problem-solving skills to the full.

Main duties of the job
Communicate regularly with staff, patients and their relatives, to promote and maintain understanding, progress and co-operation with treatment. Respect patients' dignity, wishes and beliefs, involving them in decision making; and obtaining their consent either verbally or written for every intervention. Undertake all training necessary to develop the skills to provide a high standard of Interventional Radiology nursing care that meets the patient's needs, within the agreed policies of the Radiology Department and Trust. Use their previous nursing knowledge and skills for the clinical observation Make appropriate and safe decisions relating to patient needs and communicate this effectively to other members of the multi-disciplinary team caring for the patient and their family where necessary. Communicate regularly with staff, patients and their relatives, to promote and maintain understanding, progress and co-operation with treatment. Once fully trained, to assume some managerial responsibility for the Radiology Department in the absence of the Senior Sister. Act as a role model to junior members of staff and as a mentor to nursing students on placement in the Department Actively participate in clinical teaching as required and support junior staff in achieving the targets identified within their own personal development plans To work flexibly in accordance with the changing needs of the service which includes the out of hours working and on call.

Accept responsibility for delegated roles in educational, training and teaching strategieswithin the department. Initiate and participate in departmental developments and take a proactive role in the implementation of procedures and policies to improve patient care Be aware of the role of audit and research, have the ability to maintain an effective audit trail and work towards continual improvement in quality assurance programs. To be competent in the administration of and oral drugs used in Interventional Radiology and to undertake relevant drug administration training to comply with national and MSE Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust guidelines. Once competent to participate in the delivery of all Interventional Radiology and Imaging procedures that require nursing support. Maintain and protect the safety and confidentiality of patients and families. Once fully trained to actively support the Senior Sister in the implementation of advanced nursing practice within the Imaging department Once fully trained to actively support the Senior Sister in the implementation of advanced To participate in staff appraisals.
