Job summary

We are looking for an organised, friendly and dynamic Dispensary Manager to lead our dispensary team. We are a busy rural GP practice of 5000 patients, of which, approximately one third are dispensing patients.

As our Dispensary Manager - your role will be to manage all aspects of the dispensary; liaising with the GP partners and practice manager to effectively manage stock levels, ensuring adequate levels are held and minimising wastage and expenditure. You must have previous experience as a Dispenser ideally you will hold a level 2 dispensing qualification.

Suitable candidates will need to be a team player and ideally have experience of team management.

Main duties of the job

The Dispensary Manager will be expected to coordinate the team and support the delivery of an excellent service to our dispensing patients, by:

ensuring the service meets the DSQS standards; completing the monthly, quarterly and annual dispensary returns, running searches on the practice clinical system and completing the necessary audits; developing, reviewing and improving standard operating procedures, and policies; managing the day-to-day employment of the team of 2 other dispensers, including holidays, absence, rotas, performance, and recruitment; maintaining stocks, ensuring profitability and business sustainability, regularly reviewing drug supplier deals and offers and change procurement where needed to ensure value for money.

Our practice team currently includes 3 GP Partners, 1 salaried GP, 2 Practice Nurses, 2 Healthcare Assistants, 2 Dispensers and an Administration team.

English and Maths to GCSE Level 3 or equivalent Recognised Dispensing Qualification - Minimum level 2 NVQ
