Senior Specialist Occupational Therapist - Older Persons Unit

An exciting B7 opportunity has arisen to join our well established Older Persons Occupational Therapy service inpatient team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, forward thinking and committed Occupational Therapist with strong clinical and people management skills to deliver high quality intervention to our older population.

This post sits within a supportive occupational therapy management structure which welcomes innovation and quality improvement whilst prioritising staff well being. It provides the opportunity to develop complex assessment and intervention skills for frail, older people within a unit which advocates implementation of comprehensive geriatric assessment through close multidisciplinary team working.

The team comprises of both OPU and general medicine occupational therapists allowing for joint in-service provision and education programmes for staff. Within this there is an expectation that informal support is provided across both services with potential to cross cover depending on service demands. The team is key to supporting patient flow through the acute medicine directorate and offers opportunities to be pro-actively identifying challenges and solutions in relation to the discharge pathway.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have responsibility for overseeing an inpatient caseload, as well as providing supervision and leadership to the junior team.

This post will allow you to develop and utilise your specialist clinical skills in the management of people with complex health, acute rehabilitation and social care needs. Whilst providing you with an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills, expand your professional development and participate in the wider local and national agendas for older people.
