What would the job entail?

A disabled woman living in Wisbech and working from home requires a Personal Assistant (PA) every weekday afternoon for a total of 27 hours per week.


Hours are from 12.30pm – 6.00pm Monday to Thursday and 1.00pm – 6pm every Friday. Generous hourly rates of pay for the successful candidates from £12.50 per hour, rising to £15.50 per hour following a successful probation period.
No personal care is required, and duties include housework, shopping, some food preparation, light gardening, ironing and accompanying the client to hospital appointments when necessary.

The funding for this PA support is provided by Cambridgeshire County Council.


Requirements of the role:

Previous experience within a care or support environment is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate must be willing and able to follow instructions and to work unsupervised to meet high standards, which need to be adhered to due to the client’s physical limitations. The successful applicant must be comfortable working in a smoking environment.  It is essential that the successful candidate owns a car so that they can drive the client to appointments when she is not well enough to drive. The appointed PA needs to be punctual, trustworthy, and dependable and will be provided with on-the-job training. References are required. The successful candidate will be physically fit and capable of pushing the client outside in a wheelchair, and of collapsing the wheelchair to lift it in and out of the client’s car for outside journeys when escorting the client to appointments. An enjoyment of music and films is welcome and will be enjoyed when the client is taking a break from working in the home environment.
