We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join the computation team at Snap Inc 

What you’ll do: 

Develop high performance code using C++ & have the freedom to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team who are developing software tools to model the behaviour of complex optical systems including : diffraction, raytracing, polarisation and scattering effects.

Collaborate with the R&D team to research and develop new optical modelling approaches to enhance the accuracy of the model.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Good understanding of mathematics - including linear algebra, statistics and probability.

Experience and interest in optics and modelling.

Strong numerical analysis and algorithmic development skills.

Analytical and methodical approach.

Ability to work across groups and disciplines, and to adapt quickly to new challenges.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, electronics or similar.

3+ years of experience working in software development.

Strong C++ coding background.

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in computer science, physics, mathematics, electronics or similar.

Working knowledge of Python or similar scripting language

Experience with multithreading, GPU computing or multiprocessing APIs

Basic understanding of both geometric and wave optics, including diffraction and polarisation.

Experience with cloud computing services.
