We are consistently rated the best performing Emergency Departments in the South East of England and in the top 10 or the whole of England. Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust see approximately 160,000 patients per year in our Emergency Departments.
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our highly skilled multi-disciplinary team and make a difference in patient care. You need to have excellent communication skills, be able to demonstrate evidence based clinical practise and be open to further academic development. You must be flexible, approachable, compassionate, hardworking and be able to use your own initiative whilst also having the ability to work under pressure. This role will involve developing further skills and knowledge in relation to patient care and managerial/team leadership duties.

Main duties of the job

About us
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital trust in the south-east of England.
We provide a full range of general hospital services and some aspects of specialist and complex care to around 600,000 people living in West Kent and East Sussex. We have a team of over 8,000 full and part-time staff. We also provide specialist cancer services to around 2 million people across Kent and East Sussex via the Kent Oncology Centre. Fordcombe Hospital is near Tunbridge Wells and became part of the Trust in October 2024. It focusses on planned care and has two operating theatres, 28 inpatient and day care beds, diagnostic services including X-ray, MRI, CT and endoscopy, and a number of consultation and treatment rooms.

Job responsibilities
Once your pre-employment checks have been completed you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions.
Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trusts 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at Enhanced Level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)

Essential
First level registered nurse registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council
Desirable
Evidence of further education since qualification Mentorship/ Preceptorship course (or equivalent) Advance Life Support provider
Experience/ Knowledge
Essential
Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice at the level of a newly qualified nurse. Understanding of equality and diversity and how to apply it to self. Understanding of NMC Code and requirements of it for own practice and behaviour. Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the NHS
Desirable
Experience in an emergency department setting Proficient clinician and clinical role model Understanding of audit and benchmarking processes
