PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Due to the continued international growth and success of the firm, we have a fantastic opportunity for an established, qualified accountant (5+ years PQE) to join our Financial Control team. 
With significant stakeholder ownership and engagement from the outset, this role will be responsible for a variety of accounting and control activities focusing on the international entities of the AG Group. It will also include the opportunity to play a crucial role in ensuring compliance and technical accounting requirements are understood and addressed as the firm expands into new jurisdictions.

THE TEAM
The Group Finance team supports and drives the financial success of Addleshaw Goddard, striving to deliver a first-class service to all stakeholders. The Group Finance team comprises business professionals across a range of disciplines including Financial Control, Tax, Procurement, Business Partnering, Financial Planning and Analysis, Credit Control, Accounts Payable, Legal Billing and Legal Cashiering.
The Financial Control team at AG has a broad remit across the whole group. Activities include the preparation of all sets of statutory financial statements for the group and related audit management, balance sheet reporting and control including balance sheet reconciliations, group accounting areas such as intercompany and foreign exchange, VAT, partnership finance, finance system control, month end accounting and technical accounting advisory.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE
Audit and Financial Statements
• Review of a variety of sets of statutory financial statements for both limited company and LLP entities, under UK GAAP and IFRS. Occasional hands on / preparation work may also be required.
• Working with the team to ensure audits are on track and good lines of communication are maintained with the audit teams.
• Working with the Financial Controller to ensure all audit issues are escalated and dealt with in a timely manner.
• Review of statutory adjustments and ensuring all items are posted into the ledgers in an accurate and timely manner.
Accounting and control activities
• Accurate monthly accounting and timely reporting of relevant jurisdictional balances.
• Review of balance sheet reconciliations for regional entity balance sheets.
• Responsibility for intercompany matrix, intercompany billing processes and intercompany reconciliations.
• Foreign exchange accounting.
• Involvement in other FC areas with a focus on overseas entities as required, which may include property accounting, partnership finance, VAT analysis and review, HR related items.
• Month end support as required.
• Support with technical accounting advisory.
• Improvement of controls, processes and compliance in all areas of accounting across regions.
Business partnering, project, team and other activities
• Project work including involvement in the set-up activities for new jurisdictions, changes to accounting standards and impact on internal and external reporting, and group structural work.
• Business partnering with the regional commercial finance team, tax team, HR and other finance teams as necessary to maintain a collaborative working environment and ensure financial control support and review of ongoing business activities.
• Working closely with the Systems finance team to identify and resolve system related issues and improve processes.
• Line management of junior members of the team.
• Supporting the Financial Controller with other activities as required.

YOUR AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE 
To be successful in this role, you will:
• Be an experienced, qualified accountant (all qualifications considered), ideally with 5+ years PQE.
• Have experience of preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and a good understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS. LLP accounts and SORP experience desirable but not essential.
• Have demonstrable experience managing audit processes. 
• Have the evidenced ability of operating with a control mindset. with a track record of driving the strengthening and refining of financial controls to ensure a best-in-class control environment.
• Have a proven track record of working collaboratively with others to implement change. 
• Be a confident and consultative stakeholder manager, with evidenced experience of engaging with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
• Have strong attention to detail with the curiosity to identify, understand and drive imaginative solutions to challenges.
• Experience of line management desirable but not essential.
• Have a strong working knowledge in IT systems, specifically across MS packages (Excel (essential), PowerPoint, Word, Outlook etc.)
