Is an Apprenticeship right for you?

To help you decide if an apprenticeship is right for you, we have outlined the main eligibility criteria below.

Most of our apprenticeships are open to anyone over the age of 16 and there’s no upper age limit. Please note that for safety critical roles the minimum age will be higher. You must not already be in full time education at the point of the apprenticeship start date. You must not have already achieved a similar or higher-level qualification in the apprenticeship role you have applied for. For example, if you have a degree in Engineering, you will not be eligible to apply for an Engineering apprenticeship. However, you could apply for another apprenticeship in a different profession, such as Finance.

Apprenticeship role responsibilities

We are recruiting a Project Support Officer Apprentice to join our Infrastructure Team. This is an exciting opportunity in which you will undertake a 2-year defined programme that will contribute to the development and delivery of Station Enhancement Schemes. You’ll also study towards a Level 3 Business Administration qualification with one of our trusted partners.

Responsible for general and project administration, assisting Project Managers with organising meetings, completion reports, taking minutes of working groups, contractor progress meetings and monthly governance meetings to ensure projects are delivered to time, cost and quality. Assist with all project related communication by distributing posters / leaflets, advising customers of planned work and providing information to internal comms and social media teams, Facilities Management and Network Rail (NR) planned works to ensure all stakeholders are informed of TfW’s activity. Manage the O&M / hand back process, liaising with contractors for O&M submissions, undertaking an initial review and maintenance of the O&M manuals. Monitor and highlight WPP tracker to ensure compliance to CP7003, Control of Contractors. Manage buried services requests. Issue Site Access Permits and managing the site access database and contractor monitoring.  Provide assistance and manage the document control of all relevant technical specifications and guidance documents including the station toolkit, by working with the project and documentation controls teams to ensure project documentation is accurate and compliant.

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.

Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills.
