Job summary

Thisis a new and exciting opportunity for a Principal Psychologist to join ourestablished interdisciplinary chronic pain team basedin Lincoln. We are looking for an aspiring psychologist with a passion forworking in the field of chronic pain management, and experience ofmanaging a caseload within a physical health setting.

Youwill provide specialist psychological assessments and formulations, and deliver individual and groupinterventions as part of our interdisciplinary community-basedchronic pain service, working alongside nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, and occupationaltherapists.

Main duties of the job

Youwill have excellent communication and relationship skills and be resilient inresponding to sometimes hostile, antagonistic or highly emotive situations. Youwill develop and foster conducive relationships with local and nationalclinical stakeholders including IAPT services, GPs, secondary care and otherclinically important contacts.

Youwill use your knowledge, experience and skills to provide advice andconsultation on psychological aspects of pain management to other healthprofessionals and to advance knowledge and practice of psychological theoriesand principles.

Youwill have a British Psychological Society Accredited post-graduate doctoraldegree in an applied field of psychology (clinical, health or counselling) andwill be registered with The Health & Care Professions Council as aPractitioner Psychologist.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

British Psychological Society Accredited post-graduate doctoral degree in an applied field of psychology Registration with The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist. Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS or HCPC.

Desirable

Post-doctoral training in a psychological theory/model that is applicable to the area of chronic pain ACT

Experience

Essential

Substantial experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, in-patient and residential care settings. Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment within a physical health setting, providing individual and group interventions Possesses highly developed specialist knowledge, underpinned by theory and experience of clinical health psychology models / psychological aspects of chronic illness

Desirable

Knowledge of chronic/ persistent pain. High level knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological approaches for specific problems (, traumatic reactions, bereavement, adherence difficulties)
